Abington School District REQUIRES that all volunteers obtain clearances and be approved by the district.  Information on how to apply for volunteer status and obtain the necessary clearances can be found by visiting the Abington SD Volunteer Information page

Volunteers include (but are not limited to):

  • Homeroom Parents
  • Field trip chaperones
  • Classroom Volunteers
  • Library Volunteers
  • Volunteers for school events during the school day
  • Volunteers for school events during after school/evening hours.

Please note that once you’ve obtained the necessary clearances and been approved by Abington SD, your volunteer status is good for 60 months (5 years).  After 5 years, anyone wishing to continue volunteering must reapply.

Instructions for Volunteers Upon Arrival at School:

  1. Bring your driver's license or ID: All volunteers, including board members, homeroom parents, and anyone else entering the school to volunteer, must have their ID when arriving at school.

  2. Sign in using the RAPTOR system:

    • Even if you have a volunteer badge, you must still sign in with your ID through the RAPTOR database.
    • The district will no longer be issuing permanent badges.

  3. For new or renewing volunteers:

    • Submit your clearances and volunteer application into the volunteer database.
    • You will be issued a temporary badge upon arrival at the school.

  4. Forgot your ID?

    • If you forget your ID, you can submit your name into RAPTOR for review in the volunteer database.
    • However, the process is faster and easier when scanning your ID

  5. Sign the visitor form:

    • In addition to using RAPTOR, you are required to sign the yellow visitor sign-in form at the front desk.

Make sure to follow these steps every time you volunteer for a smoother check-in process.
